Loos Professional Model Tension Gauges are designed to provide higher accuracy and ease of use when measuring tension in sailboat rigging lines. They can also be used for applications such as support cables for radio towers, large tents, and other structures.
Professional Model PT-2 is available in both Metric and Imperial versions. Metric versions show sizes on the gauge in millimeters and weight in kilograms. Imperial versions use inches and pounds.
MADE IN USA: YES
Applicable cable sizes: 3/16”, 7/32”, 1/4” (5mm, 6mm, 7mm)
These gauges take the guesswork out of cable tension measurement. Proper tension measurement promotes safety and efficiency at sea. The added precision and durability of our Professional Models creates exact tension measurement results.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Standard and Professional Models of Tension Gauges?
The standard models are an economic choice which require manual use and can provide an accuracy of + or – 5%.
The professional models provide higher accuracy, increased durability, and convenience of use. The gauge may be hooked on the wire and will remain in position while tension is adjusted.
Why is it necessary to measure Tension in Rigging Lines?
Proper tension ensures both performance and safety in sailing applications. Maximizing speed and catching wind efficiently becomes difficult without the right tension in rigging lines. Rigging that is too loose or too tight also makes a sailboat unsafe while limiting maneuverability.
What Cable Sizes can be measured across Loos’ Tension Gauge lineup?
Our series of gauges can measure the tension in cables and rods from 3/32: to 3/8” in diameter. (2.5mm to 10mm)
